Because Spring Break isn’t here yet…

posted by admin

It’s the last week before Spring Break (as hard as it is to think about that while we’re still in February), and CrossSeekers is still keeping busy on campus.

So before you head to warmer climates or the company of family, we’ve got several events this week and will head into the break with a New England adventure to serve the friendly Bostonians. If you’d still like to go on the trip, e-mail Brodie.

Prayer Breakfast — Each Tuesday morning starting at 7, we gather together in the Side Cafe in Lawrence for some breakfast, fellowship and prayer. It’s completely informal, so come out, get some food in your stomach and spend some time in prayer with your fellow students. Come and go as you need to.

Discussion Groups — Tuesday afternoon at 4, you can find a group of students discussing some questions and thoughts centering on a specific topic. It’s a time to get real with some simple questions that will help us all get to know each other better. If Tuesdays at 4 doesn’t work for you, another group meets on Fridays at noon. Both groups meet in the lounge area next to the food court in Sykes.

Impact Gathering — Our weekly large gathering of students. We meet Wednesday nights at 7:30 in GOSHEN 108A. This week, we’ll continue looking at the decisions we face in college and how to go about making wise choices rather than just “winging it.” We always have free drinks and snacks for you and other resources that might be useful to you as you navigate through your WCU experiences.

Proverbs Study — For those of you unable to make it out of Swope on Thursdays, CrossSeekers comes to you. Each Thursday at noon, a group of students gather in the main lobby of Swope and then head off for a short study of Proverbs, a wisdom book from the Bible. It’s informal and should still leave you time to grab a meal before rushing off to class or practice.

Boston — We’ll load up on Friday and head off to the Northeast, picking up some friends from Williamsport along the way. Once in Boston, the group will spend time serving at a large food bank, working with churches near Boston and spending time on some of the campuses around the city. The team will return on March 4th, so you’ll still have some of your Spring Break to spend with family and friends at home. There’s still time to join the team, but we need to hear back from you ASAP. Yes, that means now.

We’ll see you around campus!

Hello WCU!

We’re several weeks into the semester and have just wrapped up a study on love. This week, we’ll be kicking off a new study on the choices we make and how to make them properly.

So join us this Wednesday night at 7:30 in GOSHEN 108A.

There are also plenty of other activities throughout the week, so check us out to see how we can be a part of your experience at West Chester University!

Week Four Update

posted by admin

Wow, we’re already on our fourth week of the spring 09 semester. How crazy is that?! Even crazier…Spring Break is less than a month away! Now that’s crazy talk!

Wanted to give you the update on what’s going on this week all across campus with CrossSeekers Campus Ministry.

On Tuesday morning in the Lawrence side cafe, students and staff will gather together for breakfast and prayer over our campus and for each other. We start at 7 and should be done by 8. Come for the whole hour or just 15. It’ll be a great time.

Wednesday, we’ll have our usual Impact Gathering in Goshen 108A. It’ll kick off at 7:30 p.m., but you can always come early or stay late to hang out and get to know the students of CrossSeekers.

Thursday morning we’ll be giving our free breakfast bars in the Academic Quad outside Main Hall. Come by and grab a free treat or, even better, grab a basket and help dish out the goods. We start at 7:30 and are usually done at about 8:00. It’s early, but it’s a great way to serve.

Friday begins the annual Incounter Weekend, a three-day retreat that takes place near Chambersburg, PA. We’ll leave late Friday afternoon and return on Sunday afternoon (about 3 p.m.). If you still want to go, let Brodie know ASAP so that he can get you registered. The cost is $50 for WCU students and alumni and will cover all your expenses (except dinner on the way to the retreat). If you have any question or want to sign up, send an e-mail to brodie@crossseekerswcu.com.

Also, Brodie will be spending time on campus, so if you’ve got questions or thoughts and want to get together over lunch or a cup of coffee, let him know.

It’ll be great to see many of you over the course of the next week! See you then!
