Finishing up.

posted by admin

Well, last night was the final Impact Gathering of the semester. And what a night it was — completely designed by the student leaders of CrossSeekers Campus Ministry! It was a great end to the semester, though we’re not quite done yet.

We’ve got several events this weekend and one big one next week (yes, during finals week).

First up is Friday night’s service opportunity at The Underground, a concert event for youth in the area. They bring in bands and let them play to provide a safe environment for young people to come and hang out on a Friday night. They can use all the help they can get. As a bonus, you get to hear some local bands jam out for free!

Saturday night, Brodie and Becky are hosting a Gamenight at their apartment. We’ll have plenty of games, and might even stage a rematch of Battle of the Sexes, which the fellas dominated (yes, ladies—dominated!) in the previous matchup. So come out and have a blast at the Smith’s apartment starting at 7.

Sunday at about noon, The Journey is hosting another free lunch for college students. It’s a great place to come and enjoy a free meal with hungry students just like you. Come for worship at 11 a.m. or just pop in for lunch at about noon. Your stomach will be glad you did.

Final-ly (bad pun intended), next Wednesday night, CrossSeekers will be hosting its semesterly bash affectionately referred to as The Finals Week Study Break. Complete with free food, table games, cards, board games, video games and maybe even movies, this is an event to get a breather from the pressures of a week of studying and tests. It’s absolutely FREE and tons of fun. So bring your friends and come on out to The Journey on Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m.

If you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers, so don’t feel bad about sending a text or an e-mail to find out more info about what’s going on and ways you can plug in.

See you around.

IGNITE

posted by admin

This Tuesday night (April 21), we’re partnering with The Journey to host IGNITE, a worship experience for college students in Chester County. With several universities located around the county, we wanted to do something to bring the students together in worship of our God.

You are welcome to join us for this inaugural event at 200 S. Church St. in West Chester starting a 7 p.m. Complete with musical worship, prayer and a short devotional, you won’t want to miss out!

Final week of classes.

posted by admin

Can you believe we’re almost to the end of this semester?! Only six more days of classes. Yeah, we’re still trying to figure out how Monday classes AFTER Saturday finals works out, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

We wanted to give you a brief update as to what’s going on this week with us.

First, Tuesday morning prayer group continues at 7 a.m. in the Side Cafe of Lawrence. We spend some time eating and talking together and then share requests and pray for them and the campus. Come when you can, but we usually wrap it up by 8.

Tuesday evening, CrossSeekers and The Journey are teaming together to impact the campuses of Chester County with IGNITE, a worship experience taking place at 200 S. Church St. in West Chester. It starts at 7 and is just a time to join together in worship, prayer and a short devotional. This week, SWIM will be leading us in worship. So come out and get a taste of something new.

Wednesday night will be our final Impact gathering of the semester. It is completely designed by the student leaders and will feature food, a guest speaker (Pastor Chuck Kieffer from The Foundry), and plenty of musical worship. Come out and support your leaders, who have worked so hard to develop this event.

The Underground returns on Friday, and we’ll need all the watchful eyes we can get as this event tries to reach as many youth in the area as possible. Starting at about 6:30 p.m., several bands will be playing, and we could use your help with crowd control and such. If you’re willing to help, e-mail Brodie or sign up at Impact on Wednesday night.

Finally, we’d like to set up a rematch of Battle of the Sexes for Saturday evening. That’s the first day of finals, but hopefully most of you should be done in time to come and hang at our apartment and figure out who really is the champion!  It’ll likely start at 7 or so, but come and hang out whenever you can.

Hope to see you around this week.

Closing out the semester.

posted by admin

Well, it’s hard to believe that the semester is winding down. We’ve only got two more Wednesday night Impact Gatherings remaining, and you won’t want to miss either of them!

This Wednesday, Gibson Largent from Riverside Community Church will be sharing his story with us and teaching us how we can make a bigger impact with our lives — even during the summer. We’ll also have some musical worship to enjoy. See you Wednesday night at 7:30 in GOSHEN 108A!

This weekend is a busy one. There is still time for you to take part in the FOCUS Leadership Retreat, where students from across the Philadelphia area will join together to hone their leadership skills and gain a better understanding of what it means to lead in your specific areas of influence. The cost for this retreat is $45 and includes all food and housing for the weekend. The good news, we’ll be close to West Chester, so you don’t have to go far to experience a great retreat.

If you aren’t making the trip to FOCUS, The Journey (a local church partner) would love to have some help caring for children during a special conference on Friday night and Saturday morning. If you are able to participate, let Brodie know ASAP at brodie@crossseekerswcu.com.

IGNITE starts up next Tuesday night at The Journey (200 S. Church St.). This is a multi-campus worship experience for students in Chester County. Check out the facebook event and invite your friends to take part as special guest SWIM joins us to lead some musical worship. It looks to be a pretty cool evening. IGNITE starts Tuesday night at 7:00. We’ll see you there!

Next Wednesday night is a special Impact Gathering completely designed by the student leaders of CrossSeekers Campus Ministry. They’ve planned the night, invited the guest and chosen the theme. They’ve also planned to provide a meal for everyone who makes it out that night, so come ready to scarf down some dinner as Chuck Keiffer (a WCU alum) from The Foundry shares with all of us. You’ll definitely want to be there for that.

And don’t forget about the Discussion Groups going on each Friday at 2 p.m. (led by Susie) and Mondays at 10 and 11 a.m. (led by Paul) in Sykes (the lounge area near the food court). These are informal groups designed to dig deeper into what we’re learning on Wednesday nights. Even if you can’t make it on Wednesdays, take part in a discussion group and dig a little deeper.

Finally, the Finals Week Study Break is coming. More details will be coming, but plan for a big blowout right on campus!
